Plagiarism, depending on what you did. I.e Original: The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog. Plagiarism: The brown fox quickly jumped over the dog that was lazy. If you include the fact that the fox jumped over the dog in your report, then it is not plagiarism: The fact as to weather or not fox's are faster then dogs is controversial. It is a well known fact, however, that there was indeed a fox that jumped over a dog very quickly. Also, don't solely rely on WIkipedia for your info. Spend an hour or two at the library sifting through books on history, and inventions. Apparently, you didn't look hard enough, because some quick google searching brought about these: http://inventors.about.com/od/wstartinve... http://www.ideafinder.com/history/invent... http://library.thinkquest.org/C004203/sc... http://itotd.com/articles/414/the-invention-of-the-wheel/ http://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/A-Salute-to-the-Wheel.html http://ezinearticles.com/?Who-Invented-the-Wheel?&id=2689111 http://www.helium.com/items/476689-how-was-the-wheel-invented ...

YES!! If you use the same ideas (without citation) that is plagiarism, even if you don't use the same exact words. Just cite the source where you taking it from (unless it has to be an original idea) and then it isn't plagiarism. If you take an idea, you must give the original author credit.

No. It possibly viewed copyright infringement however now not plagiarism due to the fact the definition of plagiarism is: " an article that has been copied from anyone else and is awarded as being your possess paintings the act of plagiarizing; taking anyone's phrases or suggestions as though they have been your possess" But If you're worried approximately copyright infringement then adjust the drawings from the common pictures so they don't seem to be simply replications of anyone else's imagery.

The history of the wheel is the history of the wheel - what are you supposed to do, make up a new one? Factual reports either contain the same information or they are wrong. But if your report contains the same sentences in the same order with a few word changes, it's plagiarism. I recommend you read the wikipedia article, take a few notes, close it, and then write your report.

It is good that you wrote it in your own words, but you say your report has very similar information reviewing the exact same thing at the exact time. That is not so good. A teacher probably goes to wiki first. Obviously, when writing a report, you need to look up sources, everyone looks up sources. The thing is you should look up three or four sources, get the knowledge and the gist of what you need from those sources and write from what you learned and not just reword sentence by sentence. In college, if you paraphrase or take quotes from a source, you need to list the sources at the bottom of your report.

Actually that is plagiarism. It's funny because last quarter, in my writing class, our professor assigned a writing assignment similar to this. We were forced to find a piece and intentionally plagiarize it by means of 'rewording' it. It's surprisingly simple, isn't it? If i were you, i wouldn't go there. You can get in serious trouble. I wouldn't be surprised if your teacher checks Wikipedia anyway considering everyone seems to go there for information (which isn't always reliable, i might add), just to see if anyone does 'borrow' more than they should. Good luck if you decide to turn it in as is. Just remember, plagiarism is a serious offense, not just in the legal sense but it demeans and disrespects writers everywhere.

Use the library, even though you re-wrote the information it is still plagiarism because you are taking someone else's ideas and claiming it to be your own. Next time cite your sources, Wikipedia is not a scholarly source for information. Next time use your school library or a local library.

It's not plagiarism if you clearly state that you had gotten the information from an outside source.

If you are not using the direct wording and exact information, then it isn't really plagiarism. However, you should use parenthetical notation if you are giving any exact dates or statistics and should probably mention the article in your bibliography or "sources cited"
